Description
An account of the resource
This postcard is oriented vertically and shows a wintry scene. On the card, a woman is seen stepping out of a home onto a snowy sidewalk. Her face is not clear, but she hods a book under her left arm and wears a blue dress, white apron, and white bonnet. The lawn in front of the house has evergreen plants covered in snow. The house is two stories and there are three sets of windows of 9 individual panels, all of which are lit up with red candles. The house has a billowing chimney in its center and a steep roof, all covered in snow. The house also has green shutters against its dark brown exterior on either side of each set of windows. The doorway that the woman is walking from has a door with a curved top, and the door stands open as she walks out, but light shines from the two windows built into the door. The upper right corner reads "A Happy New Year."

Christmas Postcards
Description
An account of the resource
This postcard is oriented horizontally, showing a wintry scene. In the center is a depiction of an African-American woman standing in the open doorway of a log cab with yellow light spilling out to the snowy ground. Icicles hang from the cabin, and she stands smiling widely in the doorway with the door swinging open into the house behind her. She wears a pale blue long-skirted and long-sleeved dress (though the sleeves are rolled up to her elbows) with a red-polka dot apron over her middle. On her head is a red hat with flaps on either side of her head and she reaches out in front of her with her right hand. Outside the cabin is an older, bearded African-American man with his right side facing the viewer. He uses a closed black umbrella to lean on with his right hand and holds up a dead white goose with his left hand. The white goose is held by its tied-together legs from the man's hand, which is covered by a brown mitten. He wears a black top hat with a long black overcoat that hangs open. Out of his pocket on the right side pokes a red cloth. In the background behind him, snow covered pine trees are visible. On the right side of the postcard is the side of the cabin, built out of variously sized logs. Greenery is seen to be climbing up the side of the doorway. On the far right side of the card, a window into the warm interior of the cabin is visible, showing a decorated Christmas tree with red ball ornaments. A window towards the left side of the postcard (visible behind the man) has a red curtain. In the bottom left corner of the postcard it reads "A Merry Christmas" in black curling script.

Description
An account of the resource
This postcard is oriented vertically and shows a wintertime night scene. Towards the top of the postcard a dark night sky is seen with a bright full moon towards the upper left corner. Lit homes and apartments are seen and snow sits on the rooftops. In the immediate foreground toward the right side of the card is Father Christmas wearing a long red robe with white fur trim and a hat to match. His hands are covered by white gloves and in his left hand he holds a tan bag full of something. His right hand is placed on a brown building to his right, This building has icicles hanging from its rooftop seen toward the center top of the card. It also has a lit window near Father Christmas' head with six panes. Around his waist is a piece of twine which hods a bundle of dried branches and a tan satchel. In front of him, leaning on its side against the brown building, is a small evergreen tree with a base made of two small pieces of wood nailed together to make an "X." To Father Christmas' immediate left is a wooden sleigh carrying wrapped packages. The sleigh sits low and reaches just past Father Christmas' ankles. A piece of brown string is tied on the front of the sleigh and lays on the snowy street. Father Christmas appears to be looking down at the sleigh. To the left of the sleigh in the corner it reads "A Merry Christmas" in brown script.

Description
An account of the resource
This postcard is oriented horizontally and has a white background, edging all sides with a white border. Against the white background is a metallic and stylized gold image, made of various rectangular, triangular, striped, and circular borders. In front of this gold background, coming from the bottom left corner to the upper right corner is a stem of holly leaves and berries. The stem of this sprig of holly starts in the lower left corner with smaller leaves, and a row of three holly berries there. As the sprig stretches toward the upper right corner, there are more leaves which are larger in size, with more bunches of berries extending from the stem. Above the bottom of the stem on the upper left corner of the postcard is a red, irregularly shaped circle (similar to the looks of a wax circle). Inside of this circle is a black and white depiction of an African-American woman standing in the open doorway of a log cab in winter. Icicles hang from the cabin, and she stands smiling widely in the doorway with the door swinging open into the house behind her. She wears a long-skirted and long-sleeved dress (though the sleeves are rolled up to her elbows) with an apron over her middle. On her head is a hat and she reaches out in front of her with her right hand. Outside the cabin is an older, bearded African-American man with his right side facing the viewer. Out of his pocket on the right side pokes a cloth. In the background behind him, snow covered pine trees are visible. In the red seal around this image it reads, "A Merry Christmas" in thin gold script.
