The card depicts, in black and white, a stable scene of Joseph and Mary gazing upon the newborn baby Jesus in a manger. Stylistically, it looks as if statues were photographed. The print beneath reads "Wie danken die, Herr Jesu Christ, / daB du ein Kind geworden bist, / und hergekommen uns zu gut, / uns mitgebracht dein himmlisch Gut. / Gesegnete Weihnacht / und alles Gut zum neuen Jahr!" The general meaning is a thank-you to Jesus for coming as a newborn, wishing the receiver a blessed Christmas and New Year.

An account of the resource
Inside a manger full of hay and straw, baby Jesus, wrapped in a cloth, is seen clutching a few small branches of holly. This portrait of baby Jesus is ornamented with two branches of holly that bear holly berries. Above the picture, among two more branches of holly, "Christmas" is printed in brown ink. On the left-hand side of the postcard, the sentence "Here's to the season Of good will and Joy Here's to the Christmas with downing" is printed. On the right-hand side of the postcard the sentence "Here's to your health And may nothing destroy The pleasure I wish you this morning" is printed.
