Description

Holding several papers, a man is seated at a desk placed near corner windows in an office, probably that of the Coates & Robinson Insurance Company. The spine of a book titled "Carr Ryder Adams Co. 1911-12" is visible standing upright in a cubbyhole on the left side of the desk. A large, monthly calendar for June, 1912, and advertising the “Coates & Robinson Insurance Company … Dubuque, Iowa,” is prominently displayed on a wall behind the man. A telephone is visible on a window sill. The floor is covered in a dark wool rug in a geometric pattern; a spittoon and tall, wire wastebasket are placed on the rug near the desk. The number "80" has been written on the emulsion side of the negative and is visible in the upper right corner of the picture. The number “1” is written in the upper left corner.
