Description
Two young women are shown standing in front of a concrete shelter with a tile roof. Ivy is growing on the walls of the structure. Concrete benches and flower pots are partially visible. A low stone wall may be seen behind the shelter, located on the edge of the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. This shelter was constructed in honor of Oliver P. Shiras, Civil War veteran, U. S. Judge of the Northern District, and the first person to advocate for a public park on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. The park open in 1910, and became know as Eagle Point Park. The number 1303 is written on a label that has been stuck to the lower left corner of the slide.
