Description
The excursion steamboat, "Eclipse" drives through an open railroad bridge over the Mississippi River. The railroad bridge is on the left side of the photograph, and houses and buildings can be seen through the bridge, along the banks of the river. The "Eclipse" is on the right side of the photograph. People are standing on the bow of the steamboat with their backs facing the photographer on the first floor of the boat. the roof of the first floor says, "Prarie du Chien, Guttenberg, and Dubuque". Men and women are sitting on the second floor of the steamboat at tables. The third floor features a few men standing around, two tall smokestacks, a bell, and a pilot house/bridge with a man steering the large wheel. Under the windows of the pilot house/bridge reads, "ECLIPSE". In between the steamboat and the railroad bridge is a canoe with 6 men.
