The photograph is taken from a dirt road that shows a railroad crossing. The road continues over the railroad and over a small bridge and continues and winds up a hill in the background. There are a few buildings along the road, as well as telegraph lines. There is a man standing outside of a small building along the railroad with equipment outside for the railroad. In the bottom right of the photograph that says "Center Grove" which explains the location of the image, in the south western part of Dubuque.
