    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This image of Lock and Dam Number 11 was taken from Eagle Point, looking east across the Mississippi River. The walls of the lock, visible in the foreground, appear to be almost complete. The roller and tainter gate walls further out in the Mississippi River, are in the beginning stages of construction. A crane and other construction equipment may be seen near the roller dam walls. A dredge is visible in the pool behind the dam. The number 1286-1 is written on a label that has been stuck to the lower left corner of the slide. ]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This image appears to be of a tall, corner office that is part of an office suite on the top floor of the Security Building. A man, dressed in a light-colored suit is seated at a large, roll-top desk at left. Against the right wall, and behind the man, is a podium-height desk, on top of which is a large open ledger. A small window may be seen above the roll-top desk at left. There is a large window with a curved top, striped awning and roller shade on the back wall between the two desks. On the far right, next to the taller desk, is a door leading into another office.  The upper right wall above the door and taller desk contains windows looking into the adjacent office. The curved top of an outside window with a striped awning is visible through the interior windows in the right wall.   A spittoon and steam heat register may be seen next to the large window. The number “234” has been written on the emulsion side of the negative and is visible in the upper right corner of the picture.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[A tall, wooden scaffold has been erected at the corner of a brick foundation which has been laid next to the existing Y.M.C.A. building, which is partially visible in this image. A low, wooden construction building stands near the foundation. Piles of rubble are also visible. The Henry Stout home was torn down in 1916 and a new building was constructed at a cost of $175,000.00. The cornerstone was placed on April 2, 1916. See image LO 074 for an image of the &quot;old&quot; Y.M.C.A. building. This slide was hand colored by the photographer.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This large office appears to be located on an upper floor. A long wooden counter runs along the right side of the room. Stacks of forms and envelopes and also two embossing tools are on top of the counter. A map of the eastern portion of Dubuque County hangs behind the counter. Three men are posing in this image. One is leaning against the counter and holding a cigar. The other two men are each seated at large work tables. Numerous documents are on the table in the foreground including one stamped “Secretary of State,” and another with the word “Drainage” printed on the cover. An adding machine on a stand can be seen at the rear of the room, and a spittoon is on the floor between the work tables. An advertisement for the “Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company of Philadelphia,” and a day calendar for “Wednesday, June 5, 1912” hang on the rear wall. The view through the rear window appears to be to the east. The number “30” has been written on the emulsion side of the negative and is visible in the upper right corner of the picture.
