This substantial building was constructed of native limestone. The front entrance, steep steps leading to that entrance, and also the bell tower are clearly visible. The number 1264-b is written on a label that has been stuck to the lower left corner of the slide.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Founded in 1855, the building in this image was constructed in 1903.  The modest sized church faces the unpaved main street of Sherrill, Iowa. Arched windows framed in white wood, and a steeple with a cross on top may be seen. Steps lead to the front door. A two story white frame home, identified by the photographer as the parsonage for the Lutheran pastor and his family, has been built beside the church. Several large trees that have been heavily pruned are visible along the street. A telephone pole may be seen near the house.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[St. Matthew Lutheran Church on the corner of White and 18th Streets. It has striking similarities with St. John&#039;s Lutheran Church, and is called the daughter church of St. John&#039;s. The bell tower of this church stands on the left side of the church, with the front doors at its base. The church has two more sections in the front to the rights of the bell tower. The middle section reaches a point where a cross is seen on the roof. Both of the next two sections feature arched windows. The church extends down the street and back on the left side, with a chimney visible in the background and the back of the roof. There is also a building to the right of church that is barely seen.]]></dcterms:description>
