Description
An account of the resource

“At least five parishes in the Archdiocese in the 1880s boasted two Catholic churches where one would have been sufficient except for a variety of languages. One such town was Norway in Benton County, where Saint Michael’s was the first parish, caring for the Czech people of the area. Later the parish became predominantly German. The second parish, Saint Patrick’s provided for Norway’s Irish settlers. When the pastor of Fairfax to the east began visiting the Irish Catholics in the Norway area is not recorded. Their first church was begun in 1880 and completed the following spring and named for Saint Patrick.”

Christmas Postcards
Description
An account of the resource
This postcard is oriented vertically and shows a wintry scene. On the card, a woman is seen stepping out of a home onto a snowy sidewalk. Her face is not clear, but she hods a book under her left arm and wears a blue dress, white apron, and white bonnet. The lawn in front of the house has evergreen plants covered in snow. The house is two stories and there are three sets of windows of 9 individual panels, all of which are lit up with red candles. The house has a billowing chimney in its center and a steep roof, all covered in snow. The house also has green shutters against its dark brown exterior on either side of each set of windows. The doorway that the woman is walking from has a door with a curved top, and the door stands open as she walks out, but light shines from the two windows built into the door. The upper right corner reads "A Happy New Year."
