In the upper portion of the card a black-haired boy dressed in blue uses an enormous red feather pen to write a letter. There is an inkwell to the left, and around the upper portion of the card various pieces of paper including a check, math problem, letters, package, and card. Printed below him in different fonts is the poem/greeting: "Merry Xmas / A pen can do such / varied things, - / it can sign a check, for one, - and figure one's / expenses up, and even post a / dun; and write a letter gay / or tense, address a package, / too, - but the best of its / accomplishments is / wishing joy for you."

Father Christmas in a brown coat sans hat is leaning out the window of a hut in the woods. Two children are handing him a letter with a red seal, and he is handing them what appears to be a piece of fruit. A red bird perches on the opened shutter and "A Merry Christmas" is printed along the bottom.

Father Christmas is at the window of his hut in the woods. Two children with their backs towards the viewer, an older boy and a younger girl, are holding hands while the boy hands him a letter with a red seal. There is a string next to the window leading up to the bell overhead as a doorbell. "A Joyous Christmas" is printed in the lower left corner.

Father Christmas is in a long, blue robe with a red hat. He is writing a letter on a soldier's back. There are many soldiers dressed in all blue with tall, black boots. Father Christmas has a bag of toys and letters draped on his side. A couple soldiers are surrounding Father Christmas's sack of toys.

The card features an oval inset of Father Christmas to the right. He is wearign a red coat and a holly-adorned brown hat. He is also laden with brightly colored toys like dolls, a trumpet, and a drum. The left side of the card is covered in holly and this message: "My dear little Friend - / Just a line from Santa to tell you / I am looking up al lthe little boys and / girls I wil can upon, so if you want / me to stop at your house you must / be a real good child. / Santa Claus."
