There are two June, 1912 monthly calendars in the room, and a work-week calendar for June 3rd through 8th, 1912. The number “58” has been written on the emulsion side of the negative and is visible in the upper right corner of the picture.     <dcterms:references><![CDATA[According to the article “Concentrates From Mexican Mining Camps” in Mexican Mining Journal, November, 1908, page 28, column 3: &quot;Henry C. Reche of Dubuque, Iowa, will open up the Mariquita mine, Zacualpam, Mex. this month.&quot;<br />

The 1912 Dubuque City Directory&#039;s entry for Mariquita Mining Company states that Henry C. Reche is the company&#039;s president, William O. Buckingham is secretary and treasurer, and the office is located in room 306 of the Security Building, corner 8th and Main.<br />
<br />
In the 1970s, the man in the photo was verbally identified as &quot;Henry Ritchie.&quot;  Later research confirmed &quot;Reche&quot; as the correct spelling of his name.]]></dcterms:references>

The Mississippi River reached the 18 foot stage on April 13 - the highest in over 28 years. The McFadden Coffee &amp; Spice Company and the Hotel Julien are two of the buildings visible in this image. The spires of St. Raphael’s may be seen behind the McFadden Spice building.
