Description

A young man is seated at a long work table. On the table are a telephone, notebooks and a few papers. An intercom speaker appears to be suspended over the table. Another man is working at a roll-top desk next to the window at the rear of the office. Attached to a wainscoting-covered wall near the desk are numerous advertisements for products including “Onion Salt the universal food seasoning,” "San Juan Fishing and Packing Co., Wholesale Fish Dealers,” and “Don’t forget Paw-Nee, Made of High Grade White Oats, Sold at a Popular Price.” A "Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company of Milwaukee" monthly calendar open to June, 1912 asks “Is life insurance a good thing? Ask your late neighbor’s widow.” The number “69” has been written on the emulsion side of the negative and is visible in the upper right corner of the picture. The number “1” is written in the upper left corner.
