Title

[The Hotel Julian and Foselman Drug Store, Dubuque, Iowa]

Creator

Loemker, Herman J., 1868-1937

Description

This image looks south on 2nd Street in Dubuque, Iowa. The tallest building is the Hotel Julien, on the corner of Main and 2nd Streets. Three adjacent store fronts are also visible. Awnings for two of the businesses read “Fosselman’s Drug Store,” and “Photographs Day or Night.” The original Julien Dubuque Hotel burned in 1913, and this eight story building was constructed in its place. Flags may be seen flapping in a stiff breeze. A street car, a buggy and several automobiles are passing in front of the hotel. Several men are walking along the sidewalk. The number 1263 is written on a label that has been stuck to the lower left corner of the slide.
