A building or a house is in the back of the photograph. This building is light colored with a darker trim. There is a set of stairs in the middle of the building that leads to a porch. There is a similar porch on the next floor. There are automobiles and/or carriages to the left of the house. There are people sitting on the porches of the building. There are a large group of men standing on the grounds of this building, in conversation with one another. Many, if not all of the men are wearing a lighter colored shirt, maybe white. And many of the men are wearing darker colored slacks and hats. There are two larger trees in front of the building, and one tree to the left of the building. There is also some sort of machinery to the right of the photograph and to the right of the men. This may be along the river, and may be a riverboat.
