Ida Schumacher and Edward Hoffman are sitting on the ground, on a blanket, having a picnic. Ida is pouring something out of a can, into a glass. She is sitting with her legs crossed. Ida has her hair pulled up and a flower over her right ear. She is wearing a light colored dress, glasses, a bracelet, necklace, and ring. Edward is sitting down with his legs crossed and holding a cup in his left hand. In between the couple is a can of Pet Milk, pears, a box that says, "Nemo", Edward's hat, a picnic basket, and other food. Behind Edward is a pile of sticks and limbs in addition to another piles of small stones and rocks, with a can sitting on top. The two are sitting in front of a tree, where Edward's jacket is hanging up. Behind the tree is a carriage with no horse attached and jackets laying on the seats. The couple is in a wooded area, but with open spaces behind them and to their sides.
