A photographic portrait of John Hoffmann. This is possibly Peter B. Hoffmann Jr's uncle, the brother of Peter B. Hoffmann Sr. John is wearing a collared jacket with a white shirt underneath the collared jacket. The jacket appears to have a thickness to it. John is also wearing a patterned tie or an Victorian style puff tie with a jewel tie pin/clip in the middle. His short hair is parted on the left side of his head. He is looking to the left of the photograph. He has a thick mustache that extends outwards of his mouth. The bottom and back of the photograph says, "John Hoffmann." The back also notes, "MacKenzie, Photographer, Cor. 17th and Clay Streets, Dubuque, Iowa." Clay St. is now Central Ave. in Dubuque.
