Indenture Example 2
This indenture is an agreement between John Richmond Webb and John Beals. There is an agreement that John Beals will pay 16 pounds a year to John Richmond Webb for rent. He will pay half on March 25 and the other half on September 29. The agreement mentions several buildings, a stable, and a garden that John Beals can use. Beals’ two sons, John and Thomas, will live with him on the land. Also mentioned are two other tenants named John Church and William Dobbs. There is a printed inhabited initial and coat of arms at the top right of the indenture. An almost completely intact John Richmond Webb seal at the bottom of the document.

There is a seal at the bottom of the indenture. Some indentures have these seals. The seals often contain faces, animals, or flowers. There are also other designs sometimes found in the seals.
